2007 Tempranillo - Petite Sirah
Spicy/earthy tones of Tempranillo perk up beautifully with a bit of Petite Sirah added. Berry & plum characters come forward in a complex burst of flavor. Spanish dishes and peppered cheeses match wonderfully with this wine.
Winemaker Notes
We began making Tempranillo – Petite Sirah in 2005. The fruit from this first vintage was a field blend (combined at harvest) from a small new experimental plot whose yield was too small to reasonably keep the varieties separate. We were very pleasantly surprised to find how well the two grapes complemented each other – Spanish-style Tempranillo adding spice and smoothness to the often rough, big, and fruity Rhone-style Petite Sirah. Ever since then we’ve been cellar-marrying the two to create this special, unique, very complex blend.
