Apryl and David Imboden - Married March 28, 2009
How did you and Apryl meet?
David: Apryl and I met online in January 2007. By the time our third date was over, we were inseparable.
How did the proposal happen?
Apryl: We went to Cancun for New Years 2008. On New Years Eve we had an amazing dinner at an Argentinian restaurant. The next day, David had hired a photographer to take some photos since any time we go on vacation we never get any pictures of ourselves. After shooting for about half an hour on the beach, a storm came in and David got worried he wouldn't be able to pop the question. The rain passed over in about 15 minutes and we headed back out for a final few pictures. David got down on his knee and asked Apryl to marry him. Of course she said yes and the next 30 minutes were spent taking our engagement photos. It was a great way to start the new year.
What made you choose Wiens?
We visited Temecula after dating for 4 months. Wiens was the first winery we visited and we became wine club members that day. When we were walking the grounds, we both said "This would be a nice place to get married." After getting engaged, we discussed where we should get married. Temecula came up as the perfect location. We looked at Wiens and one other winery. It was not only the beauty of the facility, the great wine that they produce and the willingness to work with our budget, but the staff that won us over. We love Wiens and it continues to be our favorite winery.
Wedding Details:
What were your flowers/colors?
Our flowers were fuchsia hydrangeas and pale pink roses. The wedding colors were gold and pale pink with darker pink accents. The bridesmaids wore various styles of pale pink dresses and the groomsmen wore tan suits with pink ties.
What was your dress?
A beautiful ivory white strapless Mermaid gown with a sweetheart top. Full lace overlay with detailed beadwork, and silk slip underneath with a slight drop in the back. A matching ivory silk ribbon was added for additional detail and bow tied in the back.
What made your wedding unique?
We were the first wedding at Wiens to have a Photo booth, which we learned quickly was quite the hit of the party. We went into this knowing we wanted to incorporate our family’s talents as well as our own in creating an amazing event. David's Sister was the Wedding Officiant and almost didn't make it to the wedding due to a snowstorm in Denver (as well as their flower girl, ring bearer, David's brother and father). David’s brother in law provided the graphics for our customized Wine Labels, and table cards, and the DJ was Apryl’s cousin. Apryl wanted to be involved in helping to create every last detail and insisted with the help of a good friend and neighbor (who happens to be a florist) that she make the centerpieces. In addition, instead of having a “Candy bar” we decided to do something a little different and have a Cookie bar with homemade cookies baked with love by Apryl and the Bridesmaids. The display of over 40 dozen cookies stacked in apothecary jars were gone by the end of the dinner service.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Apryl: My favorite part was the first dance. We took dance lessons and worked really hard to learn our choreographed Waltz. I love that we messed up, I loved that I was laughing throughout the whole thing, and I loved that David had to tell me the steps throughout the whole routine with an oddly stoic demeanor.
David: I think my favorite part of the day was after the First Dance. After that there was nothing else I was specifically responsible for and I was so pleased with how well everything had gone. I could finally focus on the family and friends that had come to celebrate with us and just enjoy the party.
Our wedding day was the most fun and happiest day of our lives, we will always reminisce about what a great day it was and we couldn’t have asked for more. Wiens was such a great venue and the staff was fantastic to work with. Jaime and Rihanna went above and beyond in every single request we had, from hanging crystals from the ceilings to peeling off the labels on the wine. In addition, the catering company was also fantastic. Since we consider ourselves “foodies” the food was a top priority and a major factor when considering venues. We wanted it to be great and we wanted a lot of it, we were very happy.
