Racy notes of bright red fruit, ginger and pine entice the senses upon the first swirl of our 2014 Barbera, eventually unfolding into nuances of smoked oak, brown spice and cherry candy on the palate buoyed by soft tannins and focused acidity reminiscent of rhubarb riding across an alluring finish.
Our 2014 Barbera was harvested a little earlier this vintage to retain the red fruit notes and acidity that defines this Italian variety. The finished wine was beautiful but benefitted from blending in a little Syrah to fill out the mid palate and add some nice smokey notes and dark fruit to enhance the profile. With only 8 months of barrel aging, the fruit is definitely the star of the show, with the oak notes playing a subtle, yet important supporting role in the background.
